"As the Saying Goes" Actress Dies at 42

After a long and arduous battle with cervical cancer, actress Renata del Castillo died Monday afternoon at the age of 42.

The news was shared by one of her closest friends, actress Anahí Fraser, who used social media to say goodbye and honor her memory.

"My beautiful friend, my sister for life, flying high. Beautiful, you did amazing! Badass old lady, full of positivity," she wrote alongside a photo in which they both appear smiling.

Although she said she was deeply saddened by her friend's passing, Fraser said she took solace in the fact that she was no longer grieving and expressed how much she would miss her:

"I know you're with your mommy and that nothing hurts anymore. That there are no more worries, that you're now at the Creator's side and that He will always keep an eye on us. Thank you, therefore, for your advice and so many kind words."

Finally, she made a promise to watch over her family, especially her son, and to be together again in the next world: "We'll laugh together again, I know it. Your Mateo, your beautiful son, we'll do everything in our power to ensure he has what he needs. I promise."

Fan reactions were immediate, with several adding their support and solidarity to the family and close friends.

This was Renata's fight against cancer

In 2022, the actress of series such as "Control Z" and "Como dice el dicho" was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer with metastasis.

Later, she announced on social media that she had been diagnosed with a tumor in her spine, which affected her mobility and kept her in a wheelchair.

Despite all the complications, Renata underwent various treatments to improve her condition.

At the beginning of 2025, Del Castillo was hospitalized due to a pre-heart attack, and although she recovered, she returned to the hospital a few days later where she was told she had lung metastases.

In order to achieve a miracle of life, the actress would begin a new treatment that included oxygen, several injections, and constant supervision by a nurse, but due to the high cost, she asked her followers for financial help.

In July 2024, Renata was evicted, yet she remained steadfast until the end.
